The purpose of this study is to examine Iran’s perception on women rights which identifies itself with sectarian references in the Islamic world and which is different from other countries from the sectarian and linguistic point of view. In order to achieve this target, I am going to examine the evolution of women’s rights in Iran and discuss the current situation. Afterwards I am going to reveal the findings o of the research carried out on a sample of 603 people at 10 universities in Tehran and the reflections of the results obtained in Iran are going to be analyzed. In the study, the overview of women rights are going to be analyzed within the framework of dependent variables such as respect for the rights of women in Iran, their rates in parliament, constitutional rights, interactions with customs and tribes as well as independent variables such as age, piety, income level, political opinion, gender, marital status, creed and ethnical identity. The main hypothesis of the study is going to be built on that with the increase of the importance given to women’s rights in Iran the fundamental rights freedoms would also be increased, that the women as the most important actors who established the current regime thus prioritizing the soft power elements of the regime by increasing their significance in political and social life, and that thus that Iran can adapt to the international system –especially after the nuclear agreement– even more.
