A consumed body and its becoming “Power”: “American Psycho” Capitalisim centers on bodies and sex, which are controlled by social, economic and politic mechanisms. This article is based on “Consumer Culture Theory” of Foucault, who claimed that body is a field which is studied, analyzed, categorized and constructed. Foucault rigorously questioned biology by questioning whether the bodies are natural or not. The article aims at analyzing this theory on one of the most radical books of this century, “American Psycho?” as it strongly supports Foucault’s thesis. My analysis draws attention to the power of body over identity and the ability to reveal deficiencies of “subject” of this power of the body.

Body, consumer culture, masculinity, sexism
