Women incurring with an ongoing pressure under the gender stereotypes and struggle for womens rights has been taking centuries. the products of these efforts have begun to be taken, even if it is late. Gender Sensitive Budgeting which first implemented in Austria in the 1990s, is an output of these challenges in the 20th century. Understanding that public spending does not equally affect women and men, particularly childcare obligations and household division of labor shows that the importance of implementation gender responsive fiscal policies to women at national and local level. To gain a perspective on gender sensitive public policies is a very important phase for gender equality. Gender responsive budgeting has found its application area in many countries around the world today but it is thought that the women’s struggle must continue today as it is for the realization of women’s rights. In this article, it is aimed to reveal the background of gender sensitive fiscal policies, which aims to provide a gender perspective to budget policies from a historical perspective.
